Is there ever really a “right” time to step foot into a new industry? We would argue yes — absolutely!
Based on current statistics and a booming market, now is the perfect time to dive into the insurance selling business. Let us tell you why.
Positive Job Outlook
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts insurance agents employment will grow by four percent from 2024 to 2034.
One of the several factors contributing to this is the projected growth of all professions, which is only three percent. Insurance agents are likely to see more success and opportunity in the next few years!
Insurance agents are likely to see more success and opportunities in the next few years!
This growth is due to several factors, one of them being the projected growth of the economy. There’s a rise in demand for affordable health insurance. This directly leads to the need for more agents. As more insurance carriers turn to brokerages to expand distribution, the role of the independent insurance agent also grows.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics points out that independent agents thrive off the demand for insurance. They also state that online insurance sales will not hinder agents’ jobs but benefit them. Agents will still need to interact with their consumers in a face-to-face setting.

We recomend selling as many products as you can add to your portfolio. Diversification is key to a successful insurance business!
With more products, you have the potential to earn as much as you can throughout any time of year, even during the lock-in period. The more you increase your portfolio, the more you increase the amount of potential earnings possible. Some popular products include:

Room for More
Since there were significant changes in the insurance industry last year, there is room for more agents to help Medicare beneficiaries find the coverage they need.
Now is a great time for anyone considering joining the industry to give it a go. This is especially true for those just entering the workforce after college or high school! Consider this: 79.8 percent of Gen Zers currently working in insurance say they would recommend it to a friend.
Stability in Medicare
With America’s largest generation, the Baby Boomers, reaching retirement age, more than 10,000 people are turning 65 every single day! This will continue into the 2030s.
As the need for Medicare increases, so does the need for knowledgeable agents who sell Medicare.

The even better news is that enrollment in private Medicare plans has been on the rise. As of July 2025, more than 34.1 million people were enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan. More than half of all Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, according to KFF. They also estimate that 64 percent of Medicare enrollments will be in a Medicare Advantage plan by 2034.
Even if AHIP certification isn’t your thing, you can choose to exclusively pursue Medicare Supplement sales. You’ll still be happy to know that 93 percent of beneficiaries with Med Supp plans say they are satisfied with their coverage.
With so many potential consumers, now is the perfect time to start building your client base. Just remember to always focus on building relationships with your clients and finding plans that will fit their unique needs.
